Be clever, play cunning, and pickup craps the ideal way!

Dice and dice games date all the way back to the Crusades, but modern craps is just about a century old. Modern craps formed from the 12th Century English game referred to as Hazard. No one absolutely knows the origin of the game, although Hazard is said to have been made up by the Anglo, Sir William of Tyre, in the twelfth century. It is theorized that Sir William's knights enjoyed Hazard through a blockade on the citadel Hazarth in 1125 AD. The title Hazard was derived from the castle's name.

Early French colonizers brought the game Hazard to Nova Scotia. In the 18th century, when expelled by the English, the French headed down south and settled in southern Louisiana where they eventually became Cajuns. When they fled Acadia, they took their favorite game, Hazard, along. The Cajuns simplified the game and made it more mathematically fair. It's believed that the Cajuns adjusted the title to craps, which was derived from the name of the bad luck throw of 2 in the game of Hazard, recognized as "crabs."

From Louisiana, the game moved to the Mississippi scows and across the country. A great many acknowledge the dice builder John H. Winn as the creator of modern craps. In 1907, Winn built the modern craps layout. He put in place the Don't Pass line so gamblers can bet on the dice to lose. Later, he established the spaces for Place wagers and put in place the Big 6, Big 8, and Hardways.
