Be brilliant, play clever, and master craps the ideal way!

Dice and dice games goes back to the Crusades, but modern craps is approximately a century old. Modern craps come about from the 12th Century Anglo game referred to as Hazard. No one knows for sure the origin of the game, but Hazard is said to have been discovered by the Englishman, Sir William of Tyre, around the twelfth century. It is believed that Sir William's soldiers bet on Hazard through a blockade on the fortress Hazarth in 1125 AD. The title Hazard was gotten from the citadel's name.

Early French settlers imported the game Hazard to Acadia. In the 1700s, when exiled by the English, the French moved south and located safety in the south of Louisiana where they eventually became Cajuns. When they were driven out of Acadia, they took their favorite game, Hazard, with them. The Cajuns modernized the game and made it more mathematically fair. It is believed that the Cajuns adjusted the title to craps, which is acquired from the name of the non-winning throw of two in the game of Hazard, recognized as "crabs."

From Louisiana, the game moved to the Mississippi riverboats and across the nation. Many acknowledge the dice maker John H. Winn as the creator of modern craps. In the early 1900s, Winn assembled the current craps layout. He added the Do not Pass line so gamblers can bet on the dice to not win. At another time, he designed the spots for Place wagers and put in place the Big 6, Big 8, and Hardways.
