Be brilliant, play clever, and pickup craps the ideal way!

Dice and dice games date back to the Crusades, but current craps is just about a century old. Modern craps come about from the ancient English game called Hazard. No one absolutely knows the ancestry of the game, although Hazard is believed to have been created by the Anglo, Sir William of Tyre, around the twelfth century. It's theorized that Sir William's horsemen played Hazard amid a siege on the fortification Hazarth in 1125 AD. The title Hazard was derived from the castle's name.

Early French colonists imported the game Hazard to Acadia. In the 18th century, when banished by the British, the French relocated down south and settled in the south of Louisiana where they after a while became known as Cajuns. When they departed Acadia, they brought their preferred game, Hazard, along. The Cajuns modernized the game and made it more mathematically fair. It's believed that the Cajuns changed the title to craps, which is derived from the term for the losing throw of two in the game of Hazard, known as "crabs."

From Louisiana, the game migrated to the Mississippi riverboats and throughout the nation. A great many consider the dice builder John H. Winn as the father of current craps. In the early 1900s, Winn created the modern craps setup. He put in place the Don't Pass line so players can wager on the dice to not win. Later, he designed the spots for Place bets and added the Big 6, Big 8, and Hardways.
